DEAR CARTER LUMBER CUSTOMER

In 1932, my grandfather, W.E. Carter, along with T. Neil Jones, founded the Carter Jones Lumber Company in Akron, Ohio.

By 1965, Carter Lumber had grown to 12 lumberyards and opened its first plumbing, electric and heating store in Columbus Grove, Ohio. That same year, Carter Lumber moved its headquarters to Kent, Ohio.

Carter Lumber continues to expand to other neighborhoods and now has over 200 stores in 10 states and employs more than 3,500 people, including 200 at our 50,000 square-foot corporate offices in Kent, Ohio. We have quietly grown into the 19th largest building materials retailer in North America.

Even with our company's growth, Carter Lumber maintains hometown values by continuing to operate on the founding principles set down by W.E. Carter: There is nothing more important than hard work, dedication and customer service. In fact, the customer should be treated like family. Over 75 years later, Carter Lumber remains committed to this philosophy.

Carter Lumber is one of the nation's top building materials retailers with more than 200 stores in 10 states. More than just a lumberyard, the Carter Lumber family of companies is dedicated to providing builders and do-it-yourselfers with a broad range of quality building materials and exceptional customer service.

We're more than just a lumberyard. We're The Yard in your own back yard. And we look forward to serving you, our family of customers, for years to come.
