Carter Lumber Realigns Management Roles

A More Strategic Management Approach Will Strengthen Future Growth

KENT, Ohio (October 18, 2006) – Carter Lumber has established new management changes within the company and also within its subsidiary, Holmes Lumber.

As Carter Lumber continues to transition its business to help the pro contractor, these changes will work to strengthen the future growth of the company.The management realignment is broad reaching and encompasses adding a new installed sales department, grooming the purchasing department for further growth and shifting regional field management as well as management at Holmes Lumber.

Installed Sales

Don Morris has moved into the newly created position of vice president of installed sales. Morris will now be responsible for supervising and directing all activities associated with the installed sales department. After more than 34 years of service with Carter Lumber he will continue to be a valuable asset to customers. Morris previously was vice president of operations and was responsible for the Carter Lumber component plants and held regional management responsibility for Carter-Jones. In addition, Morris will remain a member of the Carter Lumber Executive Committee.

Purchasing

Paul Barnaby has been promoted to vice president of purchasing. With more than 25 years of working in stores and most recently as a regional vice president, he will now bring his field perspective into the corporate office as he assumes this new position. Barnaby will be responsible for managing the purchasing department, including monitoring the commodity markets, buying cycles and flow of products from vendors into all Carter Lumber stores. He will assume this new role in April 2007 and will report to Rollie Haring, vice president product management.

Field Management

Kip Gleckler has been promoted to regional vice president. In his previous positions as store manager and most recently as district manager Kip learned to build solid teams and contractor business. In addition, the Toledo, Ohio, district of stores will now fall under his management. Gleckler has been with Carter Lumber for more than 13 years.

Store Realignment

Allen Price will assume the regional responsibility for Carter-Jones, the Akron, Ohio, flagship store in the Carter Lumber Company. In his new role, Price will replace Morris who previously held the position. Price will assume overall regional management responsibilities for continued growth at Carter-Jones as well as continue in his current role as regional vice president for Carter Lumber.

Holmes Lumber Management Changes

Paul Miller has been named manager of Carter Custom Millwork. In this newly created position for the new facility, Miller will manage all production and sales at this facility in Hartville, Ohio. He was previously president of Holmes Lumber. With this move, Eli Weaver, former mill manager will retire at the end of the year.
Dan Troyer has been promoted to president of Holmes Lumber. Carrying on a family tradition, Troyer will follow in the footsteps of his father, who founded Holmes Lumber in 1952. Dan will oversee all operations, sales, and day-to-day activities of Holmes Lumber's three stores in Millersburg, Hartville and Sugarcreek, Ohio. With more than 25 years experience at Holmes Lumber, his familiarity with the company and extensive industry knowledge will be a continuing strong benefit to customers.
Together with Steve Miller, sales and marketing manager and manager for the Millersburg store, the Holmes Lumber executive team will continue to set strategic direction for the company and deal with all day-to-day operations.
