More than 800 attended three-day event at John S. Knight Center

Kent, Ohio (March 3, 2009) - Carter Lumber continues to do business as usual as 2009 gets underway, despite the current nation's economic woes. For the eleventh consecutive year, more than 800 Carter Lumber employees, including store and district managers from 10 states, and vendors attended its annual Manager's Meeting and Vendor Show, which was held Wednesday, March 4, 2009 through Friday, March 6, 2009

Attendees also visited more than 150 product vendors for demonstrations and new product information. The vendor show was closed to the public.

According to Gregg Mervis, Vice President of the Akron/Summit Convention and Visitors Bureau, the three-day event infused more than $800,000 back into Akron's economy and more than 750 hotel rooms were booked in four area hotels.

"Keeping the event in downtown Akron is important to us," said Neil Sackett, President and CEO of Carter Lumber. "Our commitment is to this area. We have maintained our headquarters in the Akron area for more than 75 years and have a true connection to the community and our customers."

We are committed to serving our customers and stand behind them with quality, brand name building materials and unparalleled customer service, " said Jeff Doneley, Senior Vice President and COO of Carter Lumber. "Our commitment to help our customers grow is backed by a variety of strategic initiatives that will continue to enable Carter Lumber to become a 0ne-stop resource for customers." These initiatives include an outside sales program, installed sales services, financing options, investments in equipment, a loyalty rewards program and marketing services. In addition, Carter Lumber operates four component plants in three states - Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania - which service its stores with manufactured trusses, engineered lumber and prefabricated wall panels.

"The theme of this years' event was Opportunity. We wanted our managers to know that opportunities do exist in all of our markets," said Sackett.
