Even brand-new wood can quickly become gray and dirty from exposure to sun, dirt and rain. Regular maintenance is the best insurance for your wooden fence.

Take the time to clean existing wood's surfaces to prolong its life and enhance the natural beauty of the wood. Many wood cleaning products are available. The force of water from power washers in combination with a cleaner can virtually eliminate any scrubbing to remove dirt and most old finishes. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of any loose debris before staining or sealing the wood. You should allow at least three days of good drying weather between cleaning and sealing the fence.
